Our Tribute to Andrew Breitbart

The Andrew I Knew
- Gina Loudon Ph.D.

Everyone who knows him struggles to define him.

Andrew Breitbart died this morning, and leaves behind a beautiful wife, and four young children. He died (as so many of the great ones do), way before his time.  He could aptly be called a revolutionary, a radical, a giant among men, a warrior.  But to those of us he took the time to mentor, the word “teacher” (however un-sexy the word) might be the best description.

I have had a lot of teachers in my time.  And while it is important to learn to read and write and dissect frogs, I think no one ever taught me the life lessons that Andrew taught.

We met at the birth of the Tea Party when we both spoke at one of the first Tea Party rallies.   This thing we were calling a “Tea Party” had zero credibility, and none of us knew how much we would fight, how much we would sacrifice, or how much we would change the complexion of politics.  Andrew knew.  There was the fierce determination in every fiber of his being.  He was the general leading us to war, whether we were willing or not.

Many warriors fell. Many warriors were born that day.  Many of us unwitting, but all of us watching his cues as to where the next battle would be fought.

He made a promo for my show that called me his “long time friend, and co-troublemaker.”  He was the first to publish my work, and he was the first to text me for a battle well-fought.  We shared a birthday week, and he made sure I knew he remembered and felt celebrated.  But none of that means as much as the wages of war he taught me, and the courage he engendered in my soul.  I think all who knew him feel that way.

He took time to mentor my daughter as she struggled to launch the first national “Tea Party Youth” movement.  He always took her calls, he always moved away from reporters to greet her and discuss her ideas in concerns.  Her text to me this morning (as I am out of town) read, “Mama, IDK what to say.  Can’t even look at the news because I don’t wanna hear anyone talk about it…”.  She feels without ballast.  We all do.

Larry Solov, one of Andrew’s best friends and most trusted colleagues said it well, “Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.”

Andrew would not want us to blink.  He would demand our resolve.  Our tributes should not be in the form of words, and tears, but rather in our resolve to fight on!  Let’s resolve to live as boldly as he did:  “I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies.”  We should all endeavor to go so boldly and live so fearlessly.  That will be the patriot’s tribute to this amazing leader, who will be so missed.

My Latest Big Government Post on Rep. Bachus

November 16th, 2011 | By Gina Loudon

This is cross posted from its original publication, Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government

Local Reaction to Congressman Spencer Bachus: Respond, Reform, or Resign

by    Dr. Gina Loudon

There  is a forgiving nature in the Southerner that surprises the
occasional  Yankee visitor. Doors are opened, ladies are escorted off of
curbs, and  conversation is edifying. There is a sharp but tailored
critique of  wrongdoing, and forgiveness comes as easy as the gentle
southern gulf  breeze—but only once. Part of the charm of the south is
the genteel way  they approach human interaction–until, that is, you
cross them. Expect decisive correction. I have come to know that this is
how the  south “weeds” out its own bad, so that the genteel southern
tradition  continues.

The southern tradition of civility is deeply rooted. That is why the short selling of the American economy by Alabama Congressman Bachus, as described on 60 Minutes
last Sunday, and his pursuant refusal to explain, apologize, or make
reparations to his constituents strikes them as so abhorrent. Alabamians
are asking for the honorable removal of the Congressman who did the
dishonorable.

The following is a letter sent Monday to his office, after one sent Sunday evening went unanswered:

Mr. Staley:

This is my second attempt at communication to you and your Congressman’s office.

I  am looking to give you and/or Congressman Bachus an opportunity to
speak in his defense to his constituents before they organize an all
out protest of his non-response on what appears to be a horrible
injustice against the citizens of Alabama, and the American economy.  He
is welcome on my show today any time between 4 and 7 pm.

I  will be diplomatic to my guests, Mr. Staley, but non-response from
an  elected public servant and his staff is wholly unacceptable and
will  result in a relentless pursuit of the same.

I am not only an engaged Republican, Tea Partier, and show host, I am his constituent.

Please respond to my Producer, Jason (cc’d), ASAP.

Thank you,

Dr. Gina Loudon

The congressman’s office sent a written statement in response to the interview request as follows (edited for brevity):

…Congressman Bachus is not available for an interview for the show, but we did want to send along the statement given to 60 Minutes and to others in the media who have asked about this.

Congressman  Bachus makes sure to comply with the law and House
Ethics rules, and  his financial transactions are publicly disclosed.
Chairman Bachus does  not trade in financial sector companies over which
the Financial  Services Committee has jurisdiction.

Tim Johnson

Press Secretary

Rep. Spencer Bachus (AL-6)

The  office offered nothing in terms of a personal apology,
restoration to  American taxpayers, commitment to reform, or other
“non-canned” answers  for his constituents. A follow up letter with
suggestions as to the  former is drafted, and the Congressman’s response
will be reported here,  as well.

Local  Alabama reaction has been starkly consistent in terms of a
call for him  to respond, or in some way even acknowledge that his
voters are angry.   Michael Hart, Talk Show Host on popular FM station WYDE said:

While investing in a company a Congressmen maintains
oversight  on is not illegal, the practice does raise several serious
issues… since  US Congress members are briefed by their staffs on most
issues they vote  on, these staffers are often privy to the same
information… they… are not  forbidden from taking advantage of this
information. Each new person  added to this ‘group of insiders’ becomes
another potential conduit for  sensitive information to leak out and
could even encourage lobbying of  Congressional Staffers by investors
seeking to exploit what they know.

Another  potential problem is the possibility that a
Congressman may be  motivated to vote on policy or regulations that
might not best serve the  interest of the country or his constituents if
there is a direct  financial benefit for voting another way.

Local Tea Party activists are already planning a protest of his office this week to ask for his response to the accusations.

Zan Green, President of the largest Tea Party
in Congressman Bachus’ district said, “while not illegal… according to
the Congressional Standards (specifically), this practice shows how far
DC has gone from being a place that works for the US citizens and the
Country as a whole, to a place to enrich one’s self.”

Andrew Breitbart has called for the Congressman’s resignation, as has Investor’s Business Daily,
and others including myself  (if Bachus doesn’t acknowledge his
constituents).  Alabamians are willing to clean house when it comes to
corruption, and most are focused on restoring the credibility of
conservatives after they perceive that some have used their offices
inappropriately and dishonored conservatives as a whole. The title given
Congressmen is “honorable.” Alabamians expect the “honorable” to act
honorably.

He needs to:

1. Admit it was wrong (even if not technically illegal), and/or

2. Send the money to charity, or the American taxpayers, and/or

3. Step down from the Financial Services Committee, and/or

4. Commit to real ethics reform.

The reality is that no one truly expects this Congressman to do the right thing.  Listeners to The Dr. Gina show
described a town hall meeting where people were asking some tough
questions and Bachus angrily stomped off stage, saying, “I don’t need
this.”  I am told this happened more than once. The question then
becomes if he refuses to answer to his district and the country as a
whole, what happens next?

The  Congressman has no choice but to resign or face a constant
firestorm from  Tea Party and other GOP activists who are working hard
on self-policing  the standards of behavior for their membership as they
look ahead to  the 2012 elections.  And if this Congressman has seen
the tenacity of  those in the Tea Party who believe they are fighting
for the life of  this country, he would be wise to respond.

Why Are Most Artists Liberal?

January 10th, 2011 | By admin

As seen on Big Hollywood

Reality demonstrates that people act on their basest needs. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs says that basic needs are things like food, shelter, safety, and security. If one progresses up the scale, needs like love, belonging, esteem, and respect become important.

Hollywood is a competitive place to live and work. People who live and work there know that it might be the most competitive place to live in the entire world. The drive to succeed, to find an edge that propels you to the next level can be very compelling for those who are weak. Of those who crave the sort of attention that might compel them into the snake pit that is Hollywood, psychologists could agree that components in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs are lacking in key areas such as confidence, friendship, and even morality. All of these mid-level needs should be met for healthy development of creativity, intellect, problem solving, and other high-level needs. Maslow might reason that in the desperate setting of Hollywood, the underdevelopment of needs like morality, confidence, respect of self and from others might lead to the malformative finding of one’s self at the top of the triangle, with many of the more basic needs still lacking. In Abraham Maslow’s terms, this is a recipe for disaster of philosophical incorporation.

Other factors contribute to misintegration of philosophical synthesis, as well.

Artists are often dependent on state funding. This may elicit a reactionary response whereby an artist who might otherwise be conservative is immediately comfortable with the idea of government finance and control in order to meet her basic needs as enumerated in the physiological component of Maslow’s needs (food, water, sex, sleep, survival).

Artists know that success is often found in pushing boundaries. Art is usually only cutting edge once, and genres tend to have a shelf life. There is only one O’Keefe, only one Eastwood, only one Bach. Those genres, recomposed for today, would not have the impact because they already did. The easiest way to create a niche is to push a boundary (for example, Ke$ha, Katie Perry, Madonna). Preserving tradition often results in preserving the status quo, and taking that to a level of marketable creativity is only for the artistic genius (It’s a Wonderful Life; The Passion; The Blind Side; Amazing Grace). The reality is that not all artists are geniuses. Therefore, they will be tempted to crutch on breaking norms to accomplish notoriety, rather than rely on genius they don’t have, or hope to have.

Erich Fromm said, “If I am what I have, and I lose what I have, who am I?” His ominous warning told a tale of the reality of someone who does not properly and systematically actualize.

Creativity is usually born of deep emotional angst. In order to tap into the deepest of creative ability, it is often necessary to dwell on emotions others have the convenience of glossing over. We are all sad when we experience the death of a pet. The creator of King Kong had to not only experience the death of an animal, he had to think of every complexity, and focus in depth on the emotional trauma in order to invite his audience to experience it on film. While we all at some point are witness to the death of an animal, the writers and producers of King Kong had to delve into every painful portion of those experiences, contemplate it, ruminate on it, and experiment with it in order to assure that his audience would live the most compelling parts of that loss in the movie. The result of all this is that the artist dwells in the realm of emotion. While all of us experience emotion, the rest of us have the luxury of moving on. Not the artist. He has to dissect it, magnify it, and live it for months on end. Then, like some cruel joke, the artist is often rewarded for his attention to detail in describing for all of us the precise most painful components of pain, loss, grief, insecurity, and other emotional parts. Thus, the artist is conditioned in a Pavlovian way to act based on emotion. It would seem natural that he would then transpose that action on other elements of his life, including his marriage, his friendships, and his politics.

Artists are not paid for tapping into the power of rationale, but rather, the power of emotion. Therefore, they have no real reason to exercise or even acknowledge the rational argument of a situation. Much of art is fantasy to begin with, for example, one would not appreciate the movie King Kong if the artist explained how a giant gorilla couldn’t really do what his movie depicted. The Harry Potter films would flop, Poe would be a side note, Monet would have sunk right into his pond, and the Twilight would be bankrupt. When an artist takes a look at how to “fix” a social or economic problem, it shouldn’t surprise us that they are looking for heroes and villains, for victims and perpetrators, and for bigger than life fantasies that aren’t based in reality (and therefore won’t work).

Artists are not trained to delve into the gray. They are trained to define the absolutes such as living, dying, good, bad, heaven, and hell in ways that most of us never really have to face. Therefore, when it comes time for an artist to consider possibilities, and rational conclusion in areas like politics that they don’t know, their mind immediately goes to the dramatic—the victim, the hero; the winner, the loser; the angel, the demon.

To further complicate matters, man has an innate need for God, or religion. Conservatives argue that such needs are God breathed, but liberals have to try to push those needs aside. Artists, who tend to be deeply emotional, sociologically less adept, and psychologically needier than the basic population, arguably have a deeper need for God than any other professional population. Liberalism, in it’s cult-like compulsion toward legalistically defined behavior as dictated by leaders (bankers, producers, dealers, funders) in Hollywood, and one that provides a sort of moral promise of victory, can be very alluring. This allure meets the higher level Maslovian esteem needs that the artist may not be prepared for if he has not met the lower level needs, as he has not in many cases. Thus, liberalism becomes a pseudo religion whereby answers to other unmet Maslovian needs promise to be met somehow; some way. As the expectation continues to exceed the outcome, the artist may grow weary of their religion of “Liberalism,” and make the switch! This may explain why many artists become conservatives

This predisposition toward emotionality and validation would make the most sound minded, conservative-leaning artist somewhat reactionary. The combination of gratification for emotional response to stimulus, and the fact that most artists deal in a fictional depiction of absolutes would naturally lead to a skewed perception of how people really work. Artists are not rewarded for reality. They are rewarded most often for their dramatic, condensed representation of what reality could be.

So the question becomes then—why do artists feel compelled or qualified to delve into the political when they have no training for it at all, and even their life experience lacks credentials necessary to relate to real Americans who don’t live in Hollywood? Should they not simply exclude themselves, much like a judge does when she knows she has conflicting experience that might impede her rational judgment in a case? Well, no, because we believe in freedom under the US Constitution—even under the knowledge that freedom could result in loss of liberties for having them.

In Frontpagemag.com, John J. Ray has a theory about fame and ego that is too good to paraphrase:

My basic proposal, then, is that most (but not all) Leftists/liberals are motivated by strong ego needs — needs for power, attention, praise and fame. And in the USA and other developed countries they satisfy this need by advocating large changes in the society around them — thus drawing attention to themselves and hopefully causing themselves to be seen as wise, innovative, caring etc. Rightists by contrast have no need either for change or its opposite and may oppose change if they see it as destructive or favour change if they see it as constructive.

We will see below why one of the most consistent themes to emerge from the Leftist’s love of change is the claimed need for “equality”. And the belief in “equality” also tends to lead to support for such things as redistribution of wealth generally, heavily “progressive” income taxes, inheritance taxes, foreign aid, feminism, gay rights and socialized medicine. Again for reasons explored below, Leftists also tend to oppose religion and the churches and this in turn tends to mean that they favour abortion and oppose or obstruct religious schooling in various ways. So let us now briefly look at some of these characteristic Leftist/liberal themes to see how they relate to basic Leftist motives.

And he concludes:

But in all cases, bitter experience has shown that Leftists in power are very dangerous and destructive people. Where their power is effectively unchecked, they generally seem to resort sooner or later to mass murder (as in the case of the French revolutionaries, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Jim Jones and many Communist regimes and movements worldwide) and where they are partially thwarted by strong democratic traditions and institutions, they at least bring about large-scale impoverishment (as in post-independence India and pre-Thatcher Britain).

All people including artists want to believe that their work is meaningful and significant. For artists, this propels their belief that human nature is changeable with proper “education” which thereby gives credence to their work. Thus, to believe in their own meaningful output of work product, they must fancy themselves “educators” capable of changing people in important ways.

If you believe, as I do, and as John J. Ray does, that liberalism is inherently destructive and conservatism, while imperfect, is the far better alternative, then you need to know that my psychological training perceives hope on the horizon, because of the current liberal artists’ dilemma: the liberal artist is marketing today to a glowingly conservative consumer. Conservatives are crying out for family oriented, morally compelling, traditional values that once graced the silver screen and our television sets. The heart of America is sentimental for a turn back to the roots of Hollywood. If the market is demanding enough, it just might result in the artists resorting to Maslow’s Hierarchy to make a living to meet their basic needs, and that might look a lot like the recent mid term elections when we just threw the bastards out and changed the course of history.

Bravo, Hollywood. The best is yet to come.

Pigford Video Blockbuster: Key ‘Black Farmers’ Lawyer Admits Clients ‘Got Away With Murder’

December 20th, 2010 | By admin

by Lee Stranahan , taken from Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government

Listen to the live interview on The Dr. Gina Show on Tuesday, 4-6 PM drive

The mainstream media has treated accusations of large-scale fraud in the Pigford settlement with overt skepticism and a distinct lack of journalistic curiosity. The press has blindly repeated the Obama Administration’s claim that there are only a handful of fraud cases among the twenty thousand or so paid Pigford claims. Worse, the media has helped promote the narrative that those raising concerns about fraud in Pigford are racist.

You’re about to watch a video clip where Othello Cross, an attorney for Pigford claimants with about fifteen years of experience on the case, admits that he is personally aware of hundreds of cases of fraud in the state of Arkansas alone. Furthermore, he explains how easy it was to commit that fraud and receive a $50,000 check from the government; it’s appropriate to deduce from Cross’s revealing statement that the actual number of fraudulent claims is likely much higher than the hundreds he knows about.

You’re about to watch this clip for the first time, but the USDA watched it over a week ago — I sent it to them for comment about 10 days ago.

After a number of phone calls to the USDA, I was given the response that Secretary Vilsack now acknowledges around ten cases of fraud, up from his original statement that there are only three known cases. If I were inclined to spin the government’s response, I’d praise the USDA for finding 300% more instances of fraud in just a few days, but the reality is that the USDA can watch a video where a pro-Pigford claimant lawyer says in no uncertain terms that he knows about hundreds of cases of fraud — over ten million dollars worth at bare minimum — and still will only acknowledge ten cases.

As Andrew Breitbart points out, the media simply doesn’t want to cover Pigford. I also sent this video to a few major media outlets that stated they wanted to “research” this. I haven’t heard back from any of them.

You’ve watched the clip. Do you think Mr. Cross could have been any clearer that there are hundreds of cases of fraud he is personally aware of in just one state? Did the press research the charges of racism against Congressman Steve King? Did they research the government’s claim of three cases of fraud?

This is where citizen pressure can hopefully have some impact on them. If you have a blog, please embed and share this video and give your own opinion. If you have a Twitter or Facebook account, please post the video to your account.

The press and government seem to feel confident that they can ignore this story. Let’s prove them wrong. It’s time for formal hearings that will allow whistleblowers to come forward. It’s time for transparency — transparency for the black farmers who deserve justice and for the taxpayers whose government has wasted billions of their dollars. It’s time to investigate Pigford.

The Truth about That Dishonest Vanity Fair Palin Story, from One Who Was There

September 4th, 2010 | By Gina Loudon

(From Big Journalism–www.bigjournalism.com)

Remember Vanity Fair (you know–the stale, old magazine that no one buys unless they are on the cover or they are wishing they were, like Joy Behar)? The recent hit piece on Sarah Palin by Michael Joseph Gross reveals that they must be as desperate as the rest of the MSM for sales/ratings, because they have lost all credibility, if they ever had any.

Reading his tripe was excruciating. Some 90% of the hard accusations are attributed to anonymous “sources.” This is billed as a profile piece, not exactly Watergate. You have to do better than attributing everything to an anonymous “Deep Throat.”

I have read a lot of MSM slime over the years, but never, ever have I felt subjected to a more jealous, petty, sophomoric, disturbed piece of ragslime than I do after reading this latest on Sarah Palin. Gross left nothing alone. He attacked her beauty, intelligence, marriage, parents, friends, family, children, ability, sincerity, honesty, faith, state, husband, home, shoes, speeches, pastor, book, job, cooking, hunting skills, supporters, church, weight, undergarments… the list goes on. I honestly cannot think of anything about her that he did not attack.

Sarah Palin doesn’t need me, or anyone else to defend her. She is strong, self assured, and she has heard all of this unoriginal slime before now. The only thing new in his story is the new depth of utter disregard for professionalism in journalism. Here is an excerpt:

“When …Piper Palin turns around, she sees her parents thronged by admirers, and the crowd rolling toward her and the baby, her brother Trig, born with Down syndrome in 2008. Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, bend down and give a moment to the children; a woman, perhaps a nanny, whisks the boy away; and Todd hands Sarah her speech and walks her to the stage.”

Unfortunately for Mr. Gross, it happens that I shared the stage with Sarah Palin at that event. I announced my BUYcott of Arizona that day, and I remember it well.

As I stood backstage with the Palins I remember a reporter asking me if I were “Trig’s Nanny” with a hint of something I didn’t trust in his eyes. I coldly retorted, “no, I am Samuel’s mother.” He looked confused, and had more questions to follow. In his VF story, he said that no one is willing to speak about Sarah “on the record” unless they are paid by her, or afraid. I was one of the people you interviewed Mr. Gross. I am not paid, or afraid. But since you opted not to print what I told you, here is the rest of the story: Since the first time the Governor saw my son Samuel (who also has Down syndrome), she bolts across the room to greet him every time she sees him. She nuzzles him like a mother who loves children with Down syndrome does. I remember commenting to my husband that she always “does the mama smell” of Samuel, that only moms understand.

All of the Palin children circle around Samuel the moment they can get close, but Piper, in particular, cannot seem to get enough of him. She literally plays with him (Gross does say she played with “the children” in his story) from the moment she sees him, until the moment she is pressed to let go of him. It is so sweet, and it speaks to the parenting in her life. She has obviously been taught a real, tangible love for “special children” by her parents, and it shines when she lights up at the sight of a baby with Down syndrome. This is not an ordinary reaction in children. Most children step away, look curious, or frightened, or confused. Not the Palin children, and especially not little Piper.

After an event in Nashville, the Governor went to the trouble of making a special call to me to thank me and tell me how much Piper enjoyed “loving on” my Samuel. During the event where the Governor and I spoke in Independence, the Palins stood backstage for a long while as others took the stage. Sarah pulled me aside to ask me how blessed I felt to be the mother of someone chosen and special, like Samuel. She held both of my hands and confided her fears and love for her little Trig, and the miracle of all he has taught her. She glowed as she explained how he greets each morning with a smile, and we talked about the gentle touch of a child with Down syndrome that feels almost like the wing of an angel. I would love to tell you more about the depth of her love, concern, and compassion for her child, but she deserves my confidence. She spoke from a tender, mother’s heart, one that Mr. Gross wouldn’t know if it slapped him with a silicon spatula in a moose stew pot!

After I explained which children were Todd and Sarah’s, and which were mine and my husband’s, Mr. Gross moved into a sinister line of questioning. I let him know that I was surprised that he believed the baloney written about her during her 2008 race with John McCain. I told of my work on Governor Palin’s “advance team” and that I was there when the whole St. Louis “story” about her alleged expensive taste became more important to some writers than her stellar performance in the debate. I told him the Governor I know was always polite, always a lady, even behind the scenes in her darkest moments. I remember one night after a day of campaign season attacks when she came back to the hotel afterward. She held Trig in one arm, and cuddled Piper with the other. She was patient with her other children when they were asking about exploring the hotel. She kissed her husband who, though tired, glowed with pride in his bride (he spent hours earlier in the day hanging out and smal -talking with the advance team while her plane was running behind schedule), and she was careful to stop and say hello to all her staff and advance team despite the fact that she must have been exhausted after battling the press all day. I remember that night because I could not understand where she was getting all her energy, joy, and warmth after such a wicked day.

I told Mr. Gross that the Palin family is so real, it is unreal. What you saw in front of the cameras is precisely what you saw behind the scenes. I have known a lot of politicians. The interesting thing about the Palins is how grounded they are, despite their astonishing success. Mr. Gross says he talked to her hairdressers, makeup artists, waiters, and clerks at the Independence, Mo., event, and he tells of scandal, self absorption, and power slinging. But he never mentions talking to me, or to others I heard echoing the sentiments I offered to him. One of the most endearing components of the Palin family is their ability to point out, and laugh at their flaws. The Palins were gracious enough to let Mr. Gross follow them for months backstage, behind the scenes, and in their private moments around their staff and friends and family, and this is how he thanks them?

Here is petty, but further evidence of Mr. Gross’ slander. Sarah is a size 4. She is tiny. So when you try to hit the woman in the place that would really hurt, and accuse her of spending $3,000 of campaign money on her underwear, namely Spanx girdles, it tells your readers so much about you. Oprah doesn’t spend that on her Spanx, and if she did, you wouldn’t write about it, because she is a liberal. That’s the poorly veiled truth about you, Mr. Gross, you are jealous of Sarah (it glares through your non-story) and you hate her because she stands for good, conservative values. And she has great shoes!

The playground politics is not new to the political world, but this article employs the “takes one to know one” bully tactic to a whole new level.

I do agree with you on one thing, Mr. Gross. You said that “Her talk of leading with ‘a servant’s heart’ is a dog-whistle for the born-again. Her dig at health-care reform as an expression of Democratic ambitions to “build a Utopia in the United States is practically a trumpet call (because the Kingdom of God is not of this earth), and perfection can be achieved only in the life to come.

But it is Palin’s persistent encouragement of the prayer warriors that most clearly reveals her worldview: she is good, her opponents are evil, and the war is on.” Agreed. She is good, her opponents are evil, and the war is on!

One more thing among your errors: “the boy” in the excerpted quote above, was not Trig Palin. That was my Samuel, also a beautiful boy with Down syndrome. No “nanny whisk(ed) the boy away.” I am his mother. I took my son, Samuel from Sarah before she went on stage. I told Mr. Gross that fact, but he didn’t let that divert him from his pathetic narrative.

That is not journalism. That is just gross.

When It Comes to Leaping to Conclusions, ‘Blame Conservatives First’ Is Watchword of Biased MSM

August 28th, 2010 | By Gina Loudon

The Mainstream Media got caught with their hands in the cookie jar again. They were jubilant to jump on the “it’s the Tea Party’s fault” bandwagon within hours of an August 17 firebombing of Democrat Congressman Russ Carnahan’s St. Louis office. No one was hurt. The finger pointing was immediate, because this was a double header for the MSM. Not only did this give them an opportunity to try to pin something, anything, on a Tea Partier, but it also gave them a chance to take pot shots at conservative favorite, Ed Martin, who is currently gaining in his race to oust the unpopular, liberal Carnahan in Missouri.

Speculation began immediately for the liblogs, and in some local papers. St. Louis Tea Party Founder Bill Hennessy quickly put out a statement that the bombing of a Congressman’s office should be immediately investigated by the FBI. Bill and I spoke at that time along with others in Tea Party leadership. We knew, without asking around or knowing the details, that this was not a Tea Party tactic, and that the investigation would lead to the truth and further embarrassment of the left, by the left.

The Riverfront Times and other blogs reported that since the description of the suspect was “50, white, angry — he certainly fits the demographics of a Tea Party member.”

The MSM has spent thousands of man-hours trying to paint the Tea Party and grassroots conservatives as “Angry (Old) White Dudes,” when in fact, they tend to be young females who are highly educated. But let’s not get distracted with the facts. They never do.

When the investigations were complete, and the suspect was announced, cooler conservative heads prevailed. The firebomb suspect in Congressman Carnahan’s office in St. Louis is not only a liberal blogger in the area, but also a former paid campaign worker for Russ Carnahan, himself. He writes for TPMCafe under the name, “Ripper McCord.” St. Louis Tea Party leader Jim Hoft was first to break the story at Gateway Pundit. Carnahan confirmed the suspect’s relationship to him as a former paid canvasser in a statement released yesterday.

“As to the legions of Tea Party adherents who are calling for my head: No, I have no regrets. I was having fun — at their expense,” Riverfront Times reporter Chad Garrison said in an email to the conservative website, the Daily Caller. This is completely typical of what MSM and leftist journalists do in St. Louis on a regular basis.

As in the case with Kenneth Gladney, the black man who was beaten by SEIU workers at a rally because they thought he was a Tea Partier, the facts are buried beneath the speculation and misrepresentation. Their own echo chambers become their news feeds, and the public never knows the truth.

So far, there is no apology for any of the misinformation reported on conservatives. Don’t hold your breath. Perhaps the Riverfront Times reporter gave himself an escape hatch when he later wrote: “On second thought, maybe he’s (the 50 year old angry white male) not a Tea Party member. Firebombing your opponent’s office seems a little too, um, sane for that group.”

Instead of an apology, or any honesty in this whole situation, it appears that conservatives will instead have more such left-handed compliments tossed at them by the leftist media. Typical. But we are always ready.

A Challenge to the MSM: In the Name of Decency, Back Off the Ground Zero Mosque

From Big Journalism www.bigjournalism.com:

Rancor among religions is one thing, but the questions surrounding the proposed mosque at Ground Zero are an entirely different sort of attack.

The land surrounding Ground Zero is a war memorial. The proposal of an Islamic mosque there is synonymous with a Nazi war memorial in downtown London. How would the world react to that proposal? Wouldn’t Western Europe just about leap off the map if that were proposed? Where is the outrage from our European “friends?”

Perhaps they are confused with the whole rosy picture of “peace” being painted by the Mainstream Media? Perhaps they believe the lie that this mosque is going to exist to “bring religions together.” Is that why they chose Ground Zero, the most hallowed ground in the country at the moment?

I have a proposal for the MSM and their Islamic buddies. I suggest that they, in the interest of religious peace and bringing religions together, extend an olive branch by bowing out of this ridiculous and divisive proposal altogether! If they really were interested in peace and fellowship among the “faithful” they would do the right thing. There is only one right thing to do here, and that is, in the words of our friends from Jersey, Fahgettaboutit!

If the Muslim world continues to fight for this mosque to be built at Ground Zero, they are not interested in peace, or religious dialogue. They are interested in war. They are using the concept of taqiyya (lying) in the best interest of Islam, and they will be further from the hearts of America than ever before.

Liblogs

July 14th, 2010 | By Gina Loudon

The leftist blogs seem to really enjoy my Show! I want to thank them for tuning in, invite them back, and encourage them for risking the side effect that they might actually have a seed planted…

First, the liblogs attacked Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder for his announcement on Truth Talk 630 that he would file suit on Obamacare in the near future (Earth to liblogs–the public opposes Obamacare!).

Then, they and other liblogs attacked Congressman Roy Blunt for coming on The Dr. Gina Show and, well, being Roy Blunt (in their minds, that is a sin, because he stands in the way of the US Senate seat they want for Robin).

Next, numerous blogs attacked Senator Chuck Purgason for using the word “was” instead of “were” on my show (gasp!). We imperfect people should just be thankful that the perfect people out there shine the light on our imperfections, because otherwise, our “forgivenness” would be so meaningless.

And last, but not least, they attacked candidate for Congress, Ed Martin, both for being a Christian in the first place (that can be so offensive to some, Ed, you should be more, uh, sensitive to those who find your faith offensive and ridiculous), and also for “attacking Russ’ faith” on my show. He didn’t, but let’s not get caught up in the details. Even Chris Matthews joined the rancor, using unauthorized, proprietary audio that belongs to Crawford Broadcasting.

How can they have it both ways? Either one is an idiot for believing in God and His hand in our Founding Fathers’ establishment of the Constitution and other founding documents–OR–faith is sacred and no one should attack it. You can’t have it both ways. Well, I guess they can, because they are liblogs. We are just citizens. They work for an administration who has made it very clear that they do not care what we think about Obamacare, Arizona, racism, death threats to police officers and babies, Kagan or Berwick nominations, the trillion dollar deficit, …you get the idea.

The Dr. Gina Show has only been on air now for two weeks. This should be fun!

PS: I had Congressman Todd Akin, and Andrew Breitbart on, too. Can’t you find something to complain about there?

The lastest on Buy! Arizona is here: http://allpatriotsmedia.com/ Listen Live!

5/4/10 UPDATE: I invited Congressman JD Hayworth on my show when I filled in for Bob Wells on KJSL, and I asked him to endorse our Arizona BUYcott on air for all to hear–and he DID! Very impressive! And I told him and I will tell you to get your bags packed, because we are going to ARIZONA, Patriots! Mark your calendars for the last week in May, the first week of June, and JOIN ME in Arizona as we formally BUYCOTT their sovereign right to enforce the laws already on the books! More details to follow SOON!

5/3/10 UPDATE: The Official Arizona BUYcott was launched this weekend in Kansas City Missouri before more than 3,000 patriots who are ready to advance on this issue! More exciting news coming, including a once-in-a-lifetime event. Stay tuned to drginaloudon.com, and follow on FB: Arizona BUYcott and on Twitter: @ArizonaBUYcott. Listen to Tony Katz (BUY Arizona!), McGraw Milhaven (KTRS), Dana Loesch (97.1, Big Journalism, Big Government), Michelle Malkin, Fox News, Gina Loudon (KTRS, KJSL, Big Journalism) and PJTV for more information as it unfolds.

Dateline: Phoenix, AZ: While protestors have launched a sit in calling on the Governor to veto the bill launching the Country’s first major state enforcement efforts on illegal immigration, protesters like Al Sharpton are asking for a Boycott of the State.

In response, Patriot groups around the country want to support the rights of the people of Arizona and are calling for a BUYcott of the State.

The first BUYcott was in support of Whole Foods and was launched on September 1, 2009 by Tea Party leaders in St. Louis, Dallas, Austin, California, Philadelphia, New Jersey and more. The events drew serious national attention as one St. Louis store had BUYcott-attributable sales totaling over $50,000 in one night. Next, they BUYcotted Ford Motor Company, and Ford stocks have done well. Now conservatives around the country are standing up for Arizona.

Calls for the BUYcott began the moment the Arizona protesters called for a Boycott of Arizona, with conservative groups were saying, ‘let’s join forces and make our voices heard for Arizona!’ So that is exactly what they are all joining together to do.

Some Arizona business facts:

The state’s leading export category is computers and electronic products, which alone accounted for nearly one-third (31 percent), or $4.3 billion, of Arizona’s total merchandise exports in 2009. Other top manufactured exports that year were transportation equipment ($2.5 billion); machinery manufactures ($1.3 billion); and fabricated metal products ($954 million).
Source: Revised Origin of Movement State Export Series, Bureau of the Census, Foreign Trade Division.

Rasmussen reported that 70% of Americans support the law in Arizona.

Groups and businesses listed below are asking that decision makers purchase exports coming out of Arizona, corporations plan their meetings there, and that families intentionally vacation there this summer when possible:

Congressman J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ, ret.) and candidate for US Senate
Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit

Sonoita / Elgin Tea Party
South Florida Tea Party
Tea Party Patriots of Scottsdale
Tempe Tea Party
Titusville Patriots
Nationwide Tea Party Coalition

…and the list is growing fast!

“There are many ways for real people to support the BUYcott” said Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit. “If my family has a vacation this year, I am thinking the Grand Canyon, where I worked as a youth, might just be the perfect getaway. The national parks in Arizona are spectacular, too.”

“Tony Katz, host of The Tony Katz Radio Spectacular, has created the Buy Arizona! Initiative, and is offering free advertising on his daily radio show to support Arizona businesses.”

Brooks Bayne of the LA Tea Party said “no matter how you feel about the issue, it is ridiculous to punish business owners with a Boycott.” Naturally, there are already BUYcott efforts on Facebook (Arizona Buycott) and Twitter (@ArizonaBUYcott). Brian Gansereit has arranged for Arizona shoppers to have free shipping on his site (http://www.hobbyandcoin.com/arizona.aspx) and he hopes others will do the same.

“We see this as a statement about State’s rights, about freedom, and the right of people in one State to take action to protect their way of life as they see fit. We are proud to stand with Arizona and to support them with a BUYcott!”

Organizers are asking all participating patriot groups to email their receipts of Arizona expenditures to gina@stlouisteaparty.com so that we have quantitative data on our impact in this battle. There is also a Facebook Page and a twitter account @ArizonaBUYcott.

Final note: The Motto of Arizona: is Ditat Deus; “God Enriches”.

Ask Not For Whom the Bell Tolls, MSM: It Tolls for Thee

February 28th, 2010 | By Gina Loudon

With a whiff of nostalgia, I can imagine the old time journalist with the smell of coffee and cigarettes wafting through the click and clang of the typewriter.   Fifty years ago, a “journalist” had the ring of a dispassionate, creative, honest, fair, and trusted detective/storyteller.  Fifty years ago, if you graduated from an accredited journalism school, you were presumed “unbiased.”  Much as the physician takes an oath that she will “first, do no harm,” the “journalist” title meant that you were first, unbiased and balanced. Neutrality in the story was as necessary as it was assumed.

old_school_reporter

Sometime between half a century ago and today, something went very, very wrong.

We can speculate on what the “something” was, but we may never know for sure.  Much like the wind blows, there is no discernible source, but still we know it blows. Journalism became slanted to the left to the degree that the right had almost no voice by the mid-1980s.   Almost no voice, until Rush Limbaugh came on the scene.  Almost 30 years later, the tables have turned.  The problem for these journalists is that they have functioned robotically and cavalierly for so long, that they are not aware of the reality around them.  Things have changed. Drastically.

At CPAC 2010, I watched as the Mainstream Media (MSM) lashed out at Andrew Breitbart again and again.  He could hardly walk through the hall of the hotel without being accosted by trolling media elites who were anxious to bully him.  I watched as they tried all the old Alinsky tactics over and over, but Breitbart beat them at their own game.  When they got in his face, he smacked them down hard and fast.  It occurred to me; they weren’t aware that everything has changed.

I am the conservative political analyst for a local radio station that has been around forever.  I love media, and I love my job there. I work for a true legend in St. Louis media, who has managed to be very balanced in his approach to his craft.  There is one older, very liberal MSM journalist who’s show is just after mine.  My show is only a 15-minute spot, his is hours long. Since he is on after me, he has taken to using clips (some in context, some out) of my show and lashing out with pejoratives against me and other conservatives.  Evidently, he had no idea that everything has changed.

These four points form the “Perfect Storm” that (I will argue) have forever changed journalism:

1) Andrew Breitbart, established Big GovernmentBig HollywoodBig Journalism, and Breitbart TV, and conservative journalists and media personalities are crawling out of the woodwork!  They report and they gain supporters in droves, and are growing.

2)  The Tea Party has arrived.  The Tea Party is cellular and organic, and yet the individual members are remarkably cohesive.  The Tea Party is all about action, and members stand ready and willing to come up against anyone they perceive to be dishonestly reporting the news.

3) There is such a huge rise in the number of citizen journalists that I can’t even count the CJ’s that are in my local Tea Party.  They are becoming more and more tech-savvy and emboldened. The new media is armed and ready with cameras, mics, pen and paper, and beautiful “bloghood.”

4) Alinsky’s tactics were successfully employed for decades by unions, reporters, and liberals.  With the birth of the Tea Party, Alinsky’s tactics were turned upon the secular progressives with a Ninja move by the right.   Now boycotts turn to BUYcotts, bitchers turn to bloggers, and conservatives are behind the camera lenses.

So, listen up, MSM!  The old, liberal reporter at my station found out the hard way. Friends of mine who thrive on this stuff confronted him at a recent socialized health care rally.  He became red faced and angry, and pushed the cameraman with a black gloved hand.  All of it, of course, was caught on tape, because that’s what we do.

The day I returned from watching Breitbart repeatedly smack down the MSM at CPAC10, I opened my email to discover that that old reporter is now subject to legal action for the incident.  I tried to warn him that would happen if he didn’t straighten himself out.  I believe he just did not understand that everything has changed.  If he did believe it, I am not sure he could digest it fully.  There is no way that a 40-year veteran did not know better than to push a cameraman. I believe the reality of the new era of politics smacked him upside the face, and he reacted.

They sit around, black coffee in one hand, cigarette in the other, wondering what has happened to radio and the “legendary” talent that is, well…unemployed.  If they asked me, I would tell them that they should never have become so arrogant that they imposed their will on our craft.  They revoked their right to be “legendary journalists” when they chose self over impartiality and balance. They successfully changed the rules of partiality in journalism; they did not successfully ensure their place in it.  They will continue to die off, and many of them will no longer be working as journalists, if they are working at all.

They will be replaced with people like Andrew BreitbartHannah GilesGlenn Reynolds and others. I would tell them to go find other work before they get into trouble, like the older journalist at my station did.  And then, I would offer them some cream for their black coffee, and a breath mint, because the smoke and coffee smell on their breath really sickens me.
