My Latest Big Government Post on Rep. Bachus

November 16th, 2011 | By Gina Loudon

This is cross posted from its original publication, Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government

Local Reaction to Congressman Spencer Bachus: Respond, Reform, or Resign

by    Dr. Gina Loudon

There  is a forgiving nature in the Southerner that surprises the
occasional  Yankee visitor. Doors are opened, ladies are escorted off of
curbs, and  conversation is edifying. There is a sharp but tailored
critique of  wrongdoing, and forgiveness comes as easy as the gentle
southern gulf  breeze—but only once. Part of the charm of the south is
the genteel way  they approach human interaction–until, that is, you
cross them. Expect decisive correction. I have come to know that this is
how the  south “weeds” out its own bad, so that the genteel southern
tradition  continues.

The southern tradition of civility is deeply rooted. That is why the short selling of the American economy by Alabama Congressman Bachus, as described on 60 Minutes
last Sunday, and his pursuant refusal to explain, apologize, or make
reparations to his constituents strikes them as so abhorrent. Alabamians
are asking for the honorable removal of the Congressman who did the
dishonorable.

The following is a letter sent Monday to his office, after one sent Sunday evening went unanswered:

Mr. Staley:

This is my second attempt at communication to you and your Congressman’s office.

I  am looking to give you and/or Congressman Bachus an opportunity to
speak in his defense to his constituents before they organize an all
out protest of his non-response on what appears to be a horrible
injustice against the citizens of Alabama, and the American economy.  He
is welcome on my show today any time between 4 and 7 pm.

I  will be diplomatic to my guests, Mr. Staley, but non-response from
an  elected public servant and his staff is wholly unacceptable and
will  result in a relentless pursuit of the same.

I am not only an engaged Republican, Tea Partier, and show host, I am his constituent.

Please respond to my Producer, Jason (cc’d), ASAP.

Thank you,

Dr. Gina Loudon

The congressman’s office sent a written statement in response to the interview request as follows (edited for brevity):

…Congressman Bachus is not available for an interview for the show, but we did want to send along the statement given to 60 Minutes and to others in the media who have asked about this.

Congressman  Bachus makes sure to comply with the law and House
Ethics rules, and  his financial transactions are publicly disclosed.
Chairman Bachus does  not trade in financial sector companies over which
the Financial  Services Committee has jurisdiction.

Tim Johnson

Press Secretary

Rep. Spencer Bachus (AL-6)

The  office offered nothing in terms of a personal apology,
restoration to  American taxpayers, commitment to reform, or other
“non-canned” answers  for his constituents. A follow up letter with
suggestions as to the  former is drafted, and the Congressman’s response
will be reported here,  as well.

Local  Alabama reaction has been starkly consistent in terms of a
call for him  to respond, or in some way even acknowledge that his
voters are angry.   Michael Hart, Talk Show Host on popular FM station WYDE said:

While investing in a company a Congressmen maintains
oversight  on is not illegal, the practice does raise several serious
issues… since  US Congress members are briefed by their staffs on most
issues they vote  on, these staffers are often privy to the same
information… they… are not  forbidden from taking advantage of this
information. Each new person  added to this ‘group of insiders’ becomes
another potential conduit for  sensitive information to leak out and
could even encourage lobbying of  Congressional Staffers by investors
seeking to exploit what they know.

Another  potential problem is the possibility that a
Congressman may be  motivated to vote on policy or regulations that
might not best serve the  interest of the country or his constituents if
there is a direct  financial benefit for voting another way.

Local Tea Party activists are already planning a protest of his office this week to ask for his response to the accusations.

Zan Green, President of the largest Tea Party
in Congressman Bachus’ district said, “while not illegal… according to
the Congressional Standards (specifically), this practice shows how far
DC has gone from being a place that works for the US citizens and the
Country as a whole, to a place to enrich one’s self.”

Andrew Breitbart has called for the Congressman’s resignation, as has Investor’s Business Daily,
and others including myself  (if Bachus doesn’t acknowledge his
constituents).  Alabamians are willing to clean house when it comes to
corruption, and most are focused on restoring the credibility of
conservatives after they perceive that some have used their offices
inappropriately and dishonored conservatives as a whole. The title given
Congressmen is “honorable.” Alabamians expect the “honorable” to act
honorably.

He needs to:

1. Admit it was wrong (even if not technically illegal), and/or

2. Send the money to charity, or the American taxpayers, and/or

3. Step down from the Financial Services Committee, and/or

4. Commit to real ethics reform.

The reality is that no one truly expects this Congressman to do the right thing.  Listeners to The Dr. Gina show
described a town hall meeting where people were asking some tough
questions and Bachus angrily stomped off stage, saying, “I don’t need
this.”  I am told this happened more than once. The question then
becomes if he refuses to answer to his district and the country as a
whole, what happens next?

The  Congressman has no choice but to resign or face a constant
firestorm from  Tea Party and other GOP activists who are working hard
on self-policing  the standards of behavior for their membership as they
look ahead to  the 2012 elections.  And if this Congressman has seen
the tenacity of  those in the Tea Party who believe they are fighting
for the life of  this country, he would be wise to respond.

It Is Time to Fold up Congress’ Spending Circus

January 11th, 2011 | By admin

See the original article on Big Government

We all know it is difficult to teach an old dog new tricks, but apparently it is even more difficult to teach an old politician new ideas. They are still rearranging furniture in their office in preparation for this session, and the new batch of beltway babblers are acting more like Bozo the Clown than fiscal hawks. But government should not be conducted like a circus.

Raising the so-called debt ceiling will let the government continue to spend like clowns while they distract the people with their dazzling spending ability. The reality is that the spectacle has become somewhat nauseating for some and conservatives are saying that the show is over.

New Speaker of the House, John Boehner has indicated he is ready to lead the charge to immediately cut spending in an effort to avoid hitting the latest arbitrary debt ceiling. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner says that Congress has to vote to raise the debt ceiling or incur financial disaster when creditors to the US will no longer be willing to loan us money.

The Facts

Politicians have raised the debt ceiling 74 times since March of 1962. They have raised it 10 times in the last 10 years. The debt ceiling stands at almost $15 Trillion, and increases around $19 million every hour.

The Problem

If you are a creditor to the US Government, you assumed some level of risk. It is no secret that the US Government is paying off the debt with Chinese money, not American. So the argument that we somehow lose leverage with our creditors is nonsensical. If you were a creditor, would you rather extend your AAA ratings to someone who got a new credit card from another company every time he hit his credit limits, or someone who refused the temptation, made tough choices, and took responsibility?

Democrats talk of ominous implications resulting from cutting spending. Conservatives know that if the lights have to be turned off in some bureaucrat’s office, or some pork is denied, life will go on.

The Reality

Speaker Boehner has acknowledged that America need not default on her debt in order to live within her means Refusal to raise the debt ceiling is not tantamount to fiscal ruination, it is merely an immediate and firm resolve to cut spending, as this Congress promised to do. Senator DeMint says this is “The Showdown” we have been waiting for.

Politicians love to draw false parallels (if we don’t raise the debt ceiling, then our economy will collapse) in order to elicit fear in people to act as they would have them act. But this is a show. Not raising the debt ceiling simply means our government won’t borrow any more money. It doesn’t mean we won’t honor our obligations for what we’ve already borrowed. The American people are wise to this tactic now and won’t be partaking in the kool aid any longer, thank you.

The Politics

America elected Conservatives to fix the problem of spiraling debt and spending insanity. America no longer believes the threats of the left when they promise tragic results if conservatives don’t act in accordance with the spending they need to buy off the pet constituencies that they know they need to maintain their power base. Democrats know if serious cuts in spending take place, they will lose their base. That might be the only real “tragedy” here.

Those asking us to consent to raising the debt ceiling are asking us to trust them—again. This smacks of giving a heroin addict a syringe as they promise not to actually use it. They are asking us to trust the untrustable. This is our childrens’ debt. Americans are done with that and ready to fix the problem, not prolong it.

The Call

The American voters who just flipped Congress are ready to flip who ever else continues in this spending circus. Almost everyone agrees that if we can’t borrow the money government will have to cut spending. We are asking our government to:

1) Pass a Balanced Budget Amendment

2) Cut spending

3) Leave the debt ceiling at $14 Trillion

And this should highlight our conviction and spell it out for you if no one else has: Conservatives are asking if it is possible to lower the debt ceiling.

This debt ceiling is fake—it is really no ceiling at all. Raising it is more like raising the big top of a circus tent. Now if we can just fold up the tent, get the clowns out of there, then we restore our vision of the ‘Shining City on the Hill’ with economic stability and fiscal solvency. This is one show we just cannot let go on.

Pigford Video Blockbuster: Key ‘Black Farmers’ Lawyer Admits Clients ‘Got Away With Murder’

December 20th, 2010 | By admin

by Lee Stranahan , taken from Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government

Listen to the live interview on The Dr. Gina Show on Tuesday, 4-6 PM drive

The mainstream media has treated accusations of large-scale fraud in the Pigford settlement with overt skepticism and a distinct lack of journalistic curiosity. The press has blindly repeated the Obama Administration’s claim that there are only a handful of fraud cases among the twenty thousand or so paid Pigford claims. Worse, the media has helped promote the narrative that those raising concerns about fraud in Pigford are racist.

You’re about to watch a video clip where Othello Cross, an attorney for Pigford claimants with about fifteen years of experience on the case, admits that he is personally aware of hundreds of cases of fraud in the state of Arkansas alone. Furthermore, he explains how easy it was to commit that fraud and receive a $50,000 check from the government; it’s appropriate to deduce from Cross’s revealing statement that the actual number of fraudulent claims is likely much higher than the hundreds he knows about.

You’re about to watch this clip for the first time, but the USDA watched it over a week ago — I sent it to them for comment about 10 days ago.

After a number of phone calls to the USDA, I was given the response that Secretary Vilsack now acknowledges around ten cases of fraud, up from his original statement that there are only three known cases. If I were inclined to spin the government’s response, I’d praise the USDA for finding 300% more instances of fraud in just a few days, but the reality is that the USDA can watch a video where a pro-Pigford claimant lawyer says in no uncertain terms that he knows about hundreds of cases of fraud — over ten million dollars worth at bare minimum — and still will only acknowledge ten cases.

As Andrew Breitbart points out, the media simply doesn’t want to cover Pigford. I also sent this video to a few major media outlets that stated they wanted to “research” this. I haven’t heard back from any of them.

You’ve watched the clip. Do you think Mr. Cross could have been any clearer that there are hundreds of cases of fraud he is personally aware of in just one state? Did the press research the charges of racism against Congressman Steve King? Did they research the government’s claim of three cases of fraud?

This is where citizen pressure can hopefully have some impact on them. If you have a blog, please embed and share this video and give your own opinion. If you have a Twitter or Facebook account, please post the video to your account.

The press and government seem to feel confident that they can ignore this story. Let’s prove them wrong. It’s time for formal hearings that will allow whistleblowers to come forward. It’s time for transparency — transparency for the black farmers who deserve justice and for the taxpayers whose government has wasted billions of their dollars. It’s time to investigate Pigford.

Breaking News Please CALL!

December 17th, 2010 | By Gina Loudon

Dr. Gina Listeners: Please encourage your Senators to vote NOT to repeal “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” that protects our Military from discrimination, bullying, and other forms of harassment and distraction. *See article above this for more information, but use #’s below for your calls.

From Illinois Tea Party:

FYI – To give you timeframe for most of the votes that will happen in the next 48 hours. Please distribute! We stopped the Omnibus due to nonstop phone calls. If you can’t through to DC, absolutely call Congressional offices! PHONE NUMBERS & FAX LISTED BELOW

Today In Washington – It’s Laundry List Time

THE HOUSE: Convened at 9. Action is almost certain on a defense policy bill stripped of many controversial provisions, such as a repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell.” And with the Senate having given up on its omnibus spending bill, the House could vote on a short-term measure to keep the government running until February. The timing is up in the air, but it’s expected that the Senate would vote first on such a bill.

THE SENATE: Convened at 9:30 to continue debate on the New Start arms agreement with Russia. Democratic leaders are waiting for Republicans to offer amendments. The GOP says it merely wants a full debate on the accord; Democrats say Republicans are trying to sink it by running out the clock.
Reid has the power to switch from the treaty to regular legislation, and he might do that to take up a stopgap spending bill. The Senate could also work on the defense bill today if the House finishes with it.

THE WHITE HOUSE: The president will sign the tax cut bill shortly before 4. Prior to that, he’ll spend the afternoon talking to labor leaders including the AFL-CIO’s Richard Trumka, the American Federation of Teachers’ Randi Weingarten, AFSCME’s Gerald McEntee, SEIU’s Mary Kay Henry and the United Auto Workers’ Bob King.

MOVING ALONG: Senate Democrats can still push some legislative buttons while Republicans essentially slow-walk the New Start treaty. Reid filed for cloture yesterday on a stand-alone repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” as well as the so-called Dream Act, which would provide a path to citizenship for hundreds of thousands of adult children of illegal immigrants.

Votes on those two motions are set for Saturday. “The path is clear to finishing our work relatively soon,” Reid said this morning. But he offered a caveat: “We will work every day until our work is done.”

A repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” was hitched to the annual defense policy bill, but that measure was pared this week to its core. It would authorize $725 billion in Pentagon spending for the coming year. One controversial item did stick around: a provision that would allow the U.S. government to pay reparations to the families of Guam residents subjected to atrocities during the Japanese occupation in World War II.

Also in the Senate mix is a bill to boost health services for Sept. 11 first-responders. A few Republicans have hinted that they might support the measure once the tax and spending bills are wrapped up — and a few would be enough for passage.

OMNIBUS DOWN: Beyond all the noise about Republicans rebuffing the $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill, Congress still has to think about funding the government in the short term. The money runs out by Monday, and the Democratic leadership is scrambling to put a stopgap funding measure in place. It’ll probably be something that runs into early next year — when the GOP will have more power to tinker with fiscal decisions.

Potential speed bumps for a short-term spending bill, or CR, include the pressure to adorn it with non-appropriations legislation, such as a food safety bill that is a priority of many Democrats. Most CRs continue to fund programs at current levels, but Congress will write in exceptions, including some pitched by the White House. Obama could ask, for example, for more money for Defense Department programs. And if any of those exceptions include Democratic spending priorities, Republicans could balk.

Vote is expected Saturday morning

Make or Break DREAM Act

http://immigrationactionreport.blogspot.com/2010/12/make-or-break-dream-act.html

MAKE OR BREAK
The next 24 hours will be the most important opportunity for grassroots activists to STOP the DREAM Act amnesty from passing in Congress. The DREAM Act is an amnesty for 2.1 million undocumented young adults in this country. Vote is set for 10am in the Senate on Saturday, December 18, 2010. We only have one chance to stop this!
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has filed a cloture motion (to start/stop debate) on the House amendment to the Senate amendments to H.R. 5281, the DREAM Act, setting up a cloture vote on the measure for Saturday morning, December 18, 2010. There will be 2 possible votes, but the first vote is the most important!
60 votes are needed to pass first vote – then only 51 votes to pass second vote and if it wins, the DREAM Act will go to the President to become law.
STEP 1
First things first! Let’s follow the lead of our friends at ALIPAC.
Everyone call Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY). McConnell is the minority leader of the Senate. Call and explain your version of…
“I’m calling to tell Senator McConnell that every single Republican in the Senate had better vote NO ON CLOTURE for the Dream Amnesty tomorrow. We need all 42 GOP to vote NO. I am going to hold Senator McConnell, as minority leader, personally responsible for keeping Republicans together in opposition to this terrible Dream Act AMNESTY bill that would allow Obama and Homeland Security to give Amnesty to any and all illegal aliens according to the ‘waiver’ on page 5 line 21. Please let Senator McConnell know that Americans are counting on him to assure all GOP Senators vote NO on DREAM Act AMNESTY CLOTURE”
Call his DC office (202) 224-2541 and his Louisville office (502) 582-6304
Email Senator McConnell at http://www.mcconnell.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=ContactForm
STEP 2
After calling the minority leader’s office, let’s all fall in formation behind the targets chosen by our friends at NumbersUSA. Please select from our suggested talking points and then call each and every Senator listed below. If you call through the list once, start at the beginning and call again! By calling using these suggestions from NumbersUSA we can concentrate our impact.

Call to say / or leave a message
“Vote NO on Cloture for the DREAM Act. Please vote NO tomorrow on the DREAM Act.”
“Please ask Senator _______ to vote NO ON CLOTURE ON THE DREAM AMNESTY BILL and tell Harry Reid that America wants Congress to come home for Christmas and end the lame duck!”
“Please ask Senator _____ to vote NO ON DREAM AMNESTY CLOTURE because HR5281 on page 5 line 21 allows Obama and Homeland Security to waive all requirements and grant amnesty to almost all illegal aliens in America.”

“Please vote NO ON CLOTURE FOR 5281 AMNESTY BILL because this bill will displace and replace millions of innocent American workers, students, and voters.”

From NumbersUSA for Lower Immigration Levels.

TOP PRIORITY

Encourage These 12 Senators To Stick With Leanings or Pledges To Vote NO

This is the group that we HAVE to win. Fortunately, they are all leaning toward voting NO and their staff may even be saying they probably will vote NO. But our allies in the Senate don’t feel absolutely sure of these votes. The dozen Senators are under enormous lobbying pressure intended to make them feel inhumane if they vote NO.

Give them quick phone calls to thank them for their intention to vote NO on the DREAM Act amnesty. And note that a key reason they are right is that DREAM provides zero enforcement to stop future millions of illegal workers from coming and taking jobs from hard-pressed Americans.

2nd PRIORITY
Pound These 3 Senators Up For Re-Election in 2012 Who Are Leaning YES on Amnesty

There is no logical political reason for these Senators to vote YES on amnesty . . . if the people of their states know what they are doing. All three of these have good tendencies in our direction on amnesty in the past. But they are acting like this amnesty is somehow different.

Your job with these Senators is to persuade their staffs that voting for an amnesty without any enforcement will definitely be a key issue in the 2012 elections during what all experts predict will be continuing high unemployment for U.S. workers.

All three of these are Democrats in states that swung heavily Republican in last month’s elections. A vote for amnesty might look like political suicide.

All three of these have voted with us against amnesty in the past.

These 6 Senators Lean Strongly YES On Amnesty But Will Have To Face Voters In 2012

Most of these Democrats have had very little interest in hearing from us in the past.

But after last month’s cataclysmic results, these Senators find themselves in states where they could have a really competitive race in 2012. Thanks to all of you who phoned them today. Now, we need another round of calls telling them how much an amnesty vote Saturday will be like an albatross around their necks during the 2012 campaigns.

Liblogs

July 14th, 2010 | By Gina Loudon

The leftist blogs seem to really enjoy my Show! I want to thank them for tuning in, invite them back, and encourage them for risking the side effect that they might actually have a seed planted…

First, the liblogs attacked Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder for his announcement on Truth Talk 630 that he would file suit on Obamacare in the near future (Earth to liblogs–the public opposes Obamacare!).

Then, they and other liblogs attacked Congressman Roy Blunt for coming on The Dr. Gina Show and, well, being Roy Blunt (in their minds, that is a sin, because he stands in the way of the US Senate seat they want for Robin).

Next, numerous blogs attacked Senator Chuck Purgason for using the word “was” instead of “were” on my show (gasp!). We imperfect people should just be thankful that the perfect people out there shine the light on our imperfections, because otherwise, our “forgivenness” would be so meaningless.

And last, but not least, they attacked candidate for Congress, Ed Martin, both for being a Christian in the first place (that can be so offensive to some, Ed, you should be more, uh, sensitive to those who find your faith offensive and ridiculous), and also for “attacking Russ’ faith” on my show. He didn’t, but let’s not get caught up in the details. Even Chris Matthews joined the rancor, using unauthorized, proprietary audio that belongs to Crawford Broadcasting.

How can they have it both ways? Either one is an idiot for believing in God and His hand in our Founding Fathers’ establishment of the Constitution and other founding documents–OR–faith is sacred and no one should attack it. You can’t have it both ways. Well, I guess they can, because they are liblogs. We are just citizens. They work for an administration who has made it very clear that they do not care what we think about Obamacare, Arizona, racism, death threats to police officers and babies, Kagan or Berwick nominations, the trillion dollar deficit, …you get the idea.

The Dr. Gina Show has only been on air now for two weeks. This should be fun!

PS: I had Congressman Todd Akin, and Andrew Breitbart on, too. Can’t you find something to complain about there?

The Official Commie Hunter, Cousin Trevor!

July 1st, 2010 | By Gina Loudon

It’s in the blood, I guess. Doesn’t it just make you feel better to know there is an “O”fficial Commie Hunter running around out there (even if he is in New Zealand)? Our “Cousin Trevor Loudon” is the man. The only real problem is that he can’t run for President, because he lives in New Zealand! But he is out there, watching, compiling, writing, and uncovering new data every day to expose the leftist agenda.

He was on my show yesterday, and he was SO requested that I will have him back again on a weekly segment, to be announced soon.

The article is below, but see his official blog and his Commie Files, too. Then remember that Patriots all over the WORLD are rooting us to victory over the left in this fight. And fight on.

Obama File 105 “A Pattern of Socialist Associations” – Obama’s Supreme Court Nominee, Elena Kagan (the Early Years)
Obama File 104 here

President Barack Obama’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme court, Elena Kagan, has been sold to the public as a “moderate” – yes, a little liberal leaning, but moderate none the less.

In this first of a series of posts, I look at Elena Kagan’s patterns of association.

If Elena Kagan is a moderate, why then has she long associated with people connected to three interrelated organizations – the Communist Party USA, the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee/ Democratic Socialists of America and the far left Washington D.C. think tank, Institute for Policy Studies?

Raised on New Yorks’ Upper West Side, Elena Kagan’s parents were both politically active in a place and era where politics was dominated by the Democratic, Socialist and Communist parties.

Elena’s mother Gloria Kagan campaigned to elect far left Democratic Congressman, William Fitts Ryan. Her older brother Marc Kagan was active in the socialist influenced New Directions movement in the Transport Workers Union. When one of its leaders, Roger Toussaint, was elected union president in 2000, Mr. Kagan became his chief of staff, until a falling out occurred in 2003.

Marc Kagan’s former comrade and boss, Roger Toussaint is prominent in the communist initiated Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, which now led by D.S.A. member William Lucy. He also serves in the leadership of the Center for the Study of Working Class Life at Stony Brook University, alongside Ray Markey from the Communist Party offshoot Committees of Correspondence and D.S.A. leaders Gerry Hudson, Mark Levinson, Stanley Aronowitz and Frances Fox Piven, co-originator of the infamous Cloward – Piven Strategy.

Elena Kagan would later dedicate her Princeton history thesis on socialism in New York City to her activist brother.
I would like to thank my brother Marc whose involvement in radical causes led me to explore the history of American radicalism and in the hope of clarifying my own political ideas.
Kagan first became interested in politics in high school and worked as a legislative intern for Rep. Ted Weiss, a Democrat from New York, during the summer of 1978, and as deputy press secretary for Rep. Liz Holtzman in the summer after her junior year.

The late Ted Weiss was very far to the left. In 1978 Congressmen Ted Weiss, John Burton, Ron Dellums (D.S.A. member), John Conyers (D.S.A. supporter) , Don Edwards, Charles Rangel and others, attended a meeting organized for the Soviet front World Peace Council on Capitol Hill.

W.P.C. delegation members included President Romesh Chandra (Communist Party of India), KGB Colonel Radomir Bogdanov and Oleg Kharkhardin of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union International Department.

In 1981 another World Peace Council delegation led by Romesh Chandra toured the U.S. to publicize the “nuclear freeze” then being promoted by Leonid Brezhnev.

This group met with several far left Congressmen at the Capitol, including Weiss, John Conyers, George Crockett, Ron Dellums, Don Edwards and Mervyn Dymally.

During one of the meetings in these Congressmen’s offices an official of the Communist Party USA reportedly was present and made a speech recommending that the “peace movement” unite in supporting the cause of several terrorist groups including the PLO and the communist guerillas in EI Salvador

Weiss was also close to the Institute for Policy Studies. In 1983 I.P.S. celebrated its 20th anniversary with an April 5, reception at the National Building Museum attended by approximately 1,000 I.P.S. staffers and former staff.

The Congressional I.P.S. committee members included Ted Weiss, Philip Burton , George Crockett, Ron Dellums , Tom Harkin and Leon Panetta, later appointed by President Obama to head the Central Intelligence Agency.

Liz Holtzman is also way left of center. In the late 1980s and early 1980’s the Marxist based Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee, or D.S.O.C. (later to become Democratic Socialists of America, or D.S.A.) was highly influential inside the New York Democratic Party and city government – even Mayor David Dinkins was a member.

On August 6 1993, a rally to commemorate Hiroshima Day was held in Dag Hammarskjold Park, New York. The rally was designed “to kickoff a national campaign to collect a million signatures supporting a Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, commend president Clinton for extending the nuclear testing moratorium, urge renewal of the Non Proliferation Treaty, urge swift and complete nuclear disarmament.”

The event was sponsored by the radical Metro New York Peace Action Council.

Speakers included Liz Holtzman, then NYC Comptroller, leftist Congressmen Charles Rangel and Edolphus Towns, Leslie Cagan of Committees of Correspondence and the Cuba Information Project, Congressmen Major Owens (D.S.A. member) and Jerry Nadler (D.S.O.C. member) NYC City Councilor Ruth Messinger (D.S.O.C./ D.S.A. member) and David McReynolds, a leader of the Socialist Party USA and also a D.S.A. member.

Nearly 5 years later, in March 1998, McReynolds delivered a eulogy at a memorial service for Chicago D.S.A. activist Saul Mendelson. Fellow D.S.A. comrades Carl Marx Shier and Deborah Meier also spoke, as did then Illinois State Senator Barack Obama.

At Princeton Elena Kagan’s political beliefs emerged in an opinion piece she wrote for the Daily Princetonian a few weeks after Ronald Reagan’s victorious 1980 election night. Kagan described her disappointment at Liz Holtzman’s Congressional loss (Kagan had worked on her campaign) and her own “liberal views”. “I absorbed … liberal principles early,” she said. “More to the point, I have retained them fairly intact to this day.”

In the column, Kagan also expressed her despair the state of the political left at the time, bemoaning the lack of “real Democrats — not the closet Republicans that one sees so often these days” and the success of “anonymous but Moral Majority-backed … avengers of ‘innocent life’ and the B-1 Bomber, these beneficiaries of a general turn to the right and a profound disorganization on the left.”

At Princeton, Elena Kagan’s law school room mate was Sarah Walzer, the daughter of Princeton social sciences professor Michael Walzer.

Coincidentally Michael Walzer was a leader of the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee, both nationally and on campus..

In 1990 Michael Walzer was identified as a member of Democratic Socialists of America.

Professor Walzer was also upset at Ronald Reagan’s famous victory

Daily Princetonian, March 4, 1981
In her undergraduate thesis at Princeton entitled “To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900-1933,” Kagan lamented the decline of socialism in the country as “sad” for those who still hope to “change America.” She asked why the “greatness” of socialism was not reemerging as a major political force:
In our own times, a coherent socialist movement is nowhere to be found in the United States. Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of capitalism’s glories than of socialism’s greatness. Why, in a society by no means perfect, has a radical party never attained the status of a major political force? Why, in particular, did the socialist movement never become an alternative to the nation’s established parties?
“Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of capitalism’s glories than of socialism’s greatness,” she wrote in her thesis. “Conformity overrides dissent; the desire to conserve has overwhelmed the urge to alter. Such a state of affairs cries out for explanation.”

Kagan called the story of the socialist movement’s demise “a sad but also a chastening one for those who, more than half a century after socialism’s decline, still wish to change America … In unity lies their only hope.”

Elena Kagan spent a year working on her 1981 thesis, under the direction of Princeton historian Sean Wilentz.

When news of the thesis recently sparked controversy, Wilentz came out in defense of his former student.

Said Wilentz “sympathy for the movement of people who were trying to better their lives isn’t something to look down on… Studying something doesn’t necessarily mean that you endorse it. It means you’re into it. That’s what historians do…
Elena Kagan is about the furthest thing from a socialist. Period. And always had been. Period.”
Few would be more qualified to identify a socialist than Sean Wilentz

In May 1980, Princeton University’s Progressive Forum sponsored a May Day rally opposite the Firestone Library. An advertisement for the event in the Daily Princetonian, “Workers of Princeton unite for a May Day rally” named speakers as Sean Wilentz and Stanley Aronowitz – a prominent D.S.A. leader

Daily Princetonian, May 1, 1980
Today Sean Willentz serves on the board of Dissent magazine, which is effectively a mouthpiece for Democratic Socialists of America.

Dissent’s masthead is Marxist heavy and lists several well known D.S.A. affiliates including the late Irving Howe, Joanne Barkan, David Bensman, Mitchell Cohen, Maxine Phillips, Mark Levinson, Bogdan Denitch, Erazim Kohak, Deborah Meier, Harold Meyerson, Jo-Ann Mort, Carol O’Clearicain (NYC Finance Commissioner under David Dinkins) and Cornel West – a member of Barack Obama’s 2008 Black Advisory Council.

One of Dissent’s two editors is Elena Kagan’s old room mate’s Dad, Michael Walzer.

The other is Michael Kazin, an historian of the Communist Party and a veteran of the 1969 Venceremos Brigade to Cuba.

At Princeton, Elena Kagan won a fellowship to Oxford University, in England, where she studied “the history of British and European trade unionism.”

President Obama himself, has a long history with Democratic Socialists of America.

Is it possible that Elena Kagan shares similar associations?

Should she be asked some questions on the subject?

Patriots Launch an Arizona BUYcott!

April 29th, 2010 | By Gina Loudon

5/12/10 UPDATE:

***Follow us here on Facebook or Twitter

The latest details of the Stand With Arizona Rally are posted here:

http://StandWithArizona.org

Our latest video ad is here:

The lastest on Buy! Arizona is here: http://allpatriotsmedia.com/ Listen Live!

5/4/10 UPDATE: I invited Congressman JD Hayworth on my show when I filled in for Bob Wells on KJSL, and I asked him to endorse our Arizona BUYcott on air for all to hear–and he DID! Very impressive! And I told him and I will tell you to get your bags packed, because we are going to ARIZONA, Patriots! Mark your calendars for the last week in May, the first week of June, and JOIN ME in Arizona as we formally BUYCOTT their sovereign right to enforce the laws already on the books! More details to follow SOON!

5/3/10 UPDATE: The Official Arizona BUYcott was launched this weekend in Kansas City Missouri before more than 3,000 patriots who are ready to advance on this issue! More exciting news coming, including a once-in-a-lifetime event. Stay tuned to drginaloudon.com, and follow on FB: Arizona BUYcott and on Twitter: @ArizonaBUYcott. Listen to Tony Katz (BUY Arizona!), McGraw Milhaven (KTRS), Dana Loesch (97.1, Big Journalism, Big Government), Michelle Malkin, Fox News, Gina Loudon (KTRS, KJSL, Big Journalism) and PJTV for more information as it unfolds.

Dateline: Phoenix, AZ: While protestors have launched a sit in calling on the Governor to veto the bill launching the Country’s first major state enforcement efforts on illegal immigration, protesters like Al Sharpton are asking for a Boycott of the State.

In response, Patriot groups around the country want to support the rights of the people of Arizona and are calling for a BUYcott of the State.

The first BUYcott was in support of Whole Foods and was launched on September 1, 2009 by Tea Party leaders in St. Louis, Dallas, Austin, California, Philadelphia, New Jersey and more. The events drew serious national attention as one St. Louis store had BUYcott-attributable sales totaling over $50,000 in one night. Next, they BUYcotted Ford Motor Company, and Ford stocks have done well. Now conservatives around the country are standing up for Arizona.

Calls for the BUYcott began the moment the Arizona protesters called for a Boycott of Arizona, with conservative groups were saying, ‘let’s join forces and make our voices heard for Arizona!’ So that is exactly what they are all joining together to do.

Some Arizona business facts:

The state’s leading export category is computers and electronic products, which alone accounted for nearly one-third (31 percent), or $4.3 billion, of Arizona’s total merchandise exports in 2009. Other top manufactured exports that year were transportation equipment ($2.5 billion); machinery manufactures ($1.3 billion); and fabricated metal products ($954 million).
Source: Revised Origin of Movement State Export Series, Bureau of the Census, Foreign Trade Division.

Rasmussen reported that 70% of Americans support the law in Arizona.

Groups and businesses listed below are asking that decision makers purchase exports coming out of Arizona, corporations plan their meetings there, and that families intentionally vacation there this summer when possible:

Congressman J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ, ret.) and candidate for US Senate
Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit

The following tea party groups and coalitions have now joined in support of the Stand With Arizona Rally:

Daisy Mountain Tea Party Patriots
The Dallas Tea Party
East Valley Tea Party
Flagstaff Tea Party
Florida Tea Party
Forsyth County Tea Party Patriots
GilbertWatch
Mifflin County 9-12
Mount Vernon Area Tea Party
Mountain View Tea Party (Mesa)
Prescott Tea Party
San Tan Valley – Queen Creek Tea Party Patriots
Sonoita / Elgin Tea Party
South Florida Tea Party
Tea Party Patriots of Scottsdale
Tempe Tea Party
Titusville Patriots
Nationwide Tea Party Coalition

…and the list is growing fast!

“There are many ways for real people to support the BUYcott” said Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit. “If my family has a vacation this year, I am thinking the Grand Canyon, where I worked as a youth, might just be the perfect getaway. The national parks in Arizona are spectacular, too.”

“Tony Katz, host of The Tony Katz Radio Spectacular, has created the Buy Arizona! Initiative, and is offering free advertising on his daily radio show to support Arizona businesses.”

Brooks Bayne of the LA Tea Party said “no matter how you feel about the issue, it is ridiculous to punish business owners with a Boycott.” Naturally, there are already BUYcott efforts on Facebook (Arizona Buycott) and Twitter (@ArizonaBUYcott). Brian Gansereit has arranged for Arizona shoppers to have free shipping on his site (http://www.hobbyandcoin.com/arizona.aspx) and he hopes others will do the same.

“We see this as a statement about State’s rights, about freedom, and the right of people in one State to take action to protect their way of life as they see fit. We are proud to stand with Arizona and to support them with a BUYcott!”

Organizers are asking all participating patriot groups to email their receipts of Arizona expenditures to gina@stlouisteaparty.com so that we have quantitative data on our impact in this battle. There is also a Facebook Page and a twitter account @ArizonaBUYcott.

Final note: The Motto of Arizona: is Ditat Deus; “God Enriches”.

SMACKING the New York Times.

January 6th, 2010 | By Gina Loudon

The New York Times has me throwing things again.

I have a temper and there is nothing like the NYT to give me a regular reminder of that fact. This time, they are bringing out a whole ‘nother side of me. At second glance, maybe I want to throw my arms around them and plant a big kiss! *SMACK*

My last post on the new youth in politics entitled, “Happy New Youth” birthed a search for youth involvement in politics. My show host (the one and only McGraw Milhaven, AM 550 KTRS) called me to say there was a NY Times article about my topic. The oddly titled “The Tea Party Teen” made me want to smack them. The condescension!

I wanted to smack them in two ways.

First, I love that they are catching on to the FACT (ahem, thank you) that the Tea Party is NOT GOING AWAY! We said this on a cold, icy day under the St. Louis Arch almost one year ago. While this is news to the rest of the World, this is not news to those of us in the Tea Party. We have watched our numbers grow while big media sneered at us, the GOP warned us about what happens to third parties, the democrats had comic strip clouds over their heads reading exactly “?”, and candidates clamored for our attention.

The NYT acknowledges the Gallup poll confirming that “Americans have less faith in their elected representatives than ever before.”

Ummmmm…yes.

They also noticed that BHO and the new admin have failed to “galvanize a popular majority.” That is a #FAIL for you Tweeters out there. But it is NOT news to the Tea Partiers.

They even cited the Rasmussen poll that said on a generic ballot, a Tea Party candidate would win a 3-way race with 33 percent of voters. Undecided votes would capture 30 percent. The D’s would come in third with 25 and the R’s, last with only 12 % (naturally, with the Independents and Tea Partiers pulling from the Republicans, you can see the Democrats are NOT winning this poll).

The closing remarks in the article are that although not a “fan of the (Tea Party) movement”, Mr. Brooks admits that he can see its potential to “shape the coming decade.”

Outta’ da’ park! Thank you.

But before we pucker up, let us examine what to plant on the other cheek of the NYT.

In the soft-bellied middle of the OP-ED, Mr. Brooks slips, and reveals the snobbery and name calling we have all grown used to in Big Media. He begins a rant about how these fractious fringe folks are taking on the *tighten your upper lip and say it with me* “Educated Class.”

Eeeewwwww. Did he really just say that?

So we are the what…”Gutter Trash?” Are you saying that if you don’t get overeducated you shouldn’t have a say in our political process? Wait! I thought that liberals said we were “corporate big wigs in Brooks Brothers” who hate the workin’ guy? Is the workin’ guy the “educated class”? I am getting so confused about which box the statists want to put us in.

From Mr. Brooks’ perspective:

“The educated class believes in global warming, so (because of the Tea Party) public skepticism about global warming is on the rise. The educated class supports abortion rights, so public opinion is shifting against them. The educated class supports gun control, so opposition to gun control is mounting.”

From his thinking, anyone not left is defined by their reaction to the left. He further earned my ire by calling us an “amateurish movement with mediocre leadership”. Interesting. Let’s take a look at our leaders. Bill Hennessy, leader of the legendary St. Louis Tea Party, is an executive with a Fortune 500 company. Michael Patrick Leahy, Nationwide leader of the Tea Party, was educated at Stanford and Harvard. Many of us, myself included, have multiple post graduate degrees. We are doctors, lawyers, accountants, military officers, and professors. And those of us that don’t have advanced degrees from your institutions, have a doggone LOT of street smarts. The political right has dominated the new technologies and social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. That should probably scare you the most.

Mr. Brooks, let me assure you that we have always BEEN here. We are not reactionary. We are just people who see the assault on our liberties and our republic, and will save it. You have just failed to see us from your ivory towers in big government, big business, big media, and big academia. We have found our voice (Beck et. al.), got our own candidates (The Pit Bull Mom), our own businesses, our own media (www.biggovernment.com) and even our own schools and we aren’t gonna’ take it any more. But on the other hand (cheek), I want to thank you for acknowledging THAT. *SMACK*
