It was a hot day in Tempe on a lot of levels. The crowd was amazing, and the spirit, unstoppable even with temperatures climbing to 100 degrees. Thousands came from across the Country, and busses were there from as far away as Philadelphia. I met 3 vendors from Missouri, and dozens of people in the crowd were from Kansas City and Illinois. The midwest was well represented. When the news media asked my friend, Phillip Dennis from the Dallas Tea Party (before the event) why we didn’t expect the same “20,000″ the Protestors expected, his answer was simple, “we are the productive people. We have jobs. No union paid for us to come here. I took 2 vacation days and paid my way. The other side is all astroturfed by the leftist operatives and union bosses.”
The days leading up to the event gave me a chance to visit area business people in their shops. I was shocked to find that not one person I spoke with opposed SB 1070. My hotel, restaurants, shopkeepers, baggage handlers… no matter what ethnic or cultural background, all were excited about our “Stand With Arizona BUYcott.” Hopi Indians read my children stories by the campfire one night, and they voted for Obama, but they believe the boycotts and the communist (see below) agenda to destroy our free market are horrible. I also spoke with some illegals outside of the Capitol. They want a strong, but LEGAL guest worker program, because they don’t like coming across the border with unknown terrorists. They are Christians, who are pro life, and they detest the liberal agenda of the left using them for votes. They were extremely appreciative we were there, and asked us in heartfelt ways to return–which we WILL!
The following is an excerpt from the left wing protest that took place earlier that day in Phoenix: “The Revolution We Need…The Leadership We Have. A message (sic) and a call (sic) from the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA. We live under a system of capitalism-imperialism…a system in which US imperialism is the most monstrous, most oppressive superpower…. (sic) a system driven by a relentless chase after profit, which brings horror upon horror, a nightmare seemingly without end, for the vast majority of humanity: (sic) poverty and squalor…torture and rape…the whole sale domination and degradation of women everywhere…wars, invasions, and occupations….assassinations and massacres…planes, missiles, tanks and troops of the USA bombarding people in faraway lands while they sleep in their homes or go about their daily lives blasting their little children to pieces, cutting down men and women in the prime of life or in old age…” … You get the idea.
Honestly, in this month, as we honor our Veterans and Soldiers, it makes me sick to copy this propaganda into this post. There is no website listed on the paper, but they do give an email and web address: librosrevo@yahoo.com, 213-488-1303, if you would like your own copy.
As for the Stand With Arizona event, Sheriff Joe and The Incredible Hulk (Lou Ferrigno and his beautiful wife) lit up the night with their courageous patriotism. More than $6,000 was raised for PLEA (Phoenix Law Enforcement Association) to help the families of Law Enforcement killed in the line of duty defending our borders.
One shop owner I talked to was an off-duty Phoenix cop. He told me that all 1070 will really do is actually deport criminals he arrests. “As it stands now” he said, “I haul them in after I arrest them, then the Feds turn ‘em loose. Then they come after me and my family. I hope the new law changes that, and actually deports them, so terrorists quit coming over by the thousands, and the illegals quit killing us and our families.”
I really wonder if those protesting in Phoenix for the left on Saturday would prefer to be INCONVENIENCED by having to show documentation like I do when I rent a movie, or KILLED by a terrorist illegally entering our broken border? I wanted to ask that simple question of them so badly.
Carole Bartholameaux, who did all the PR for the weekend, told me that they can all go to the State of New Mexico to get a driver’s license with no documentation. So what is all the screaming about? Re-election of politicians, perhaps?
Many of the Mexican media who interviewed me spoke off record and told me that the Mexican politicians are just using this issue to pander, but that they all know it is a non-issue. Shame on all politicians willing to use people to pontificate on this issue for votes and power.
God Bless America! The land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE!

The bureau and several hotels plan to publish an open letter to Arizonans in The Arizona Republic and other media outlets this weekend urging Arizona residents to overlook politics and continue to visit San Diego.
Our Political A Lister this week is Barry Broome. In the face of an astroturfed National backlash against Arizona and the laws of this Country, when many in the political and business community wanted to cower in fear, Barry Broome stood strong.
When other political entities like San Francisco, LA, and even Gov. Schwartznaegger called for boycotts of Arizona, Broome went on Fox News and fought back, calling for retaliatory boycotts against those boycotting Arizona.
Such leadership by someone under direct fire, is something lacking in our body politic today.
As the founder of the BUYcott, I commend his idea of “boycotting the boycotters.” I am excited to work with him to fight for the sovereignty and economic vitality of Arizona, and the US.
Barry Broome
PRESIDENT AND CEO
GREATER PHOENIX ECONOMIC COUNCIL
Broome is at the helm of one of the country’s longest-standing regional public-private partnerships for economic development. His contemporary approach to community-building and passion for public service drive his commitment to transforming Greater Phoenix into a region of excellence.

He’s been honored as Michigan’s Economic Developer of the Year, and SMF was named one of the Top 20 Economic Development Organizations by Site Selection magazine. 5/4/10 UPDATE: I invited Congressman JD Hayworth on my show when I filled in for Bob Wells on KJSL, and I asked him to endorse our Arizona BUYcott on air for all to hear–and he DID! Very impressive! And I told him and I will tell you to get your bags packed, because we are going to ARIZONA, Patriots! Mark your calendars for the last week in May, the first week of June, and JOIN ME in Arizona as we formally BUYCOTT their sovereign right to enforce the laws already on the books! More details to follow SOON!
5/3/10 UPDATE: The Official Arizona BUYcott was launched this weekend in Kansas City Missouri before more than 3,000 patriots who are ready to advance on this issue! Dateline: Phoenix, AZ: While protestors have launched a sit in calling on the Governor to veto the bill launching the Country’s first major state enforcement efforts on illegal immigration, protesters like Al Sharpton are asking for a Boycott of the State.
In response, Patriot groups around the country want to support the rights of the people of Arizona and are calling for a BUYcott of the State.
The first BUYcott was in support of Whole Foods and was launched on September 1, 2009 by Tea Party leaders in St. Louis, Dallas, Austin, California, Philadelphia, New Jersey and more. The events drew serious national attention as one St. Louis store had BUYcott-attributable sales totaling over $50,000 in one night. Next, they BUYcotted Ford Motor Company, and Ford stocks have done well. Now conservatives around the country are standing up for Arizona.
Calls for the BUYcott began the moment the Arizona protesters called for a Boycott of Arizona, with conservative groups were saying, ‘let’s join forces and make our voices heard for Arizona!’ So that is exactly what they are all joining together to do.
Some Arizona business facts:
The state’s leading export category is computers and electronic products, which alone accounted for nearly one-third (31 percent), or $4.3 billion, of Arizona’s total merchandise exports in 2009. Other top manufactured exports that year were transportation equipment ($2.5 billion); machinery manufactures ($1.3 billion); and fabricated metal products ($954 million).

Rasmussen reported that 70% of Americans support the law in Arizona.

“There are many ways for real people to support the BUYcott” said Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit. “If my family has a vacation this year, I am thinking the Grand Canyon, where I worked as a youth, might just be the perfect getaway. The national parks in Arizona are spectacular, too.”
“Tony Katz, host of The Tony Katz Radio Spectacular, has created the Buy Arizona! Initiative, and is offering free advertising on his daily radio show to support Arizona businesses.”
Brooks Bayne of the LA Tea Party said “no matter how you feel about the issue, it is ridiculous to punish business owners with a Boycott.” Naturally, there are already BUYcott efforts on Facebook (Arizona Buycott) and Twitter (@ArizonaBUYcott). Brian Gansereit has arranged for Arizona shoppers to have free shipping on his site (http://www.hobbyandcoin.com/arizona.aspx) and he hopes others will do the same.
“We see this as a statement about State’s rights, about freedom, and the right of people in one State to take action to protect their way of life as they see fit. We are proud to stand with Arizona and to support them with a BUYcott!”
Organizers are asking all participating patriot groups to email their receipts of Arizona expenditures to gina@stlouisteaparty.com so that we have quantitative data on our impact in this battle. There is also a Facebook Page and a twitter account @ArizonaBUYcott.
