Political A-Lister-GREG QUINN
January 19th, 2010 | By Gina Loudon
Our A-List guy this week is Councilman Greg Qunn. Greg Quinn is serving his fifth term representing the St. Louis County citizens of the 7th Council District. He has served two terms as council chairman. He is the kind of humble, behind the scenes, hardworking politician we need in these perilous economic times.
While some politicians attempt to grandstand on issues “The People” have had to bring to their attention, Councilman Quinn is one who leads admirably, never seeking credit or public acclaim. He fights spending, advocates for efficiency in government, and has a regional vision that has served St. Louis County well. He is the “Dean” of the Council, and it is our pleasure to place him on our A list this week! Congratulations, Greg!
Political A List: Chairman Brett Dinkins
January 6th, 2010 | By Gina Loudon
Brett is the first Republican to grace our Political A List, so congratulations, Brett!
And what a Republican he is! He Increased membership from 192 registered members in 2007 with 5-10 active in meetings to over 2,500 registered members with 40+ active in meetings currently. As Chairman, he increased membership by 25% just over the summer by physically recruiting during Freshmen Orientation as well as using social networking sites to actively seek out potential members.
He has attended numerous Tea Parties all over the State, and directed the one on April 15 at our State Capitol!
Mr. Dinkins is the State Coordinator and Missouri Delegate to the National Leaders’ Council for the Freemont Civics Foundation, a non-partisan national organization focused on providing absentee voters with up to date political information from their registered district.
In his work with Sons of Liberty, he developed a college targeted activist organization aimed at exposing political discrimination issues, constitutional violation issues, indoctrination issues, and the misuse of student fees for a political agenda.
From Brett:
“I am both honored and humbled at the nomination of Political A Lister of the week. Campus, community, and state activism is not just a right to me, it is a duty. I operate under the notion that civic engagement is key in the growth and development of future leaders, and now more than ever youth hold a vital role in this engagement. I have made it my personal mission to maintain an active presence wherever I am, to serve as visual to young citizens across the state of the difference Missouri youth can make. Now more than ever youth are rising to a call for action and actively seeking ways to get involved. I am privileged to have had the opportunity to step up into a leadership role, organizing one of the fastest growing movements in the nation.”
Political A-Lister-BILL HENNESSY
December 30th, 2009 | By Gina Loudon
There is no book more worthy of our attention in the political realm today than Bill Hennessy’s “Zen Conservatism.” Bill has revolutionized political action and single handedly changed the face of politics as usual. No one combines Bill’s level of savvy knowledge of marketing, neuropsychology, and politics as Bill Hennessy. He is one in a million, and all talking heads would be well served to heed his advise and wisdom because he paints a road map to the future of politics in this country that many just don’t understand.
From Bill: “I am totally undeserving of this recognition. I admit that I’m trying to change the world, but I’m not alone. And we’re not getting freer every day. When history reverses itself — when individuals control more of their lives and petty politicians control less — then my tiny contribution will have yielded a return. That return will be possible only because of the greater work by millions of others. Still, thank you. I am honored to make Gina’s Political “A” list.

Political A List –Councilman Steve Stenger
December 23rd, 2009 | By Gina Loudon
Councilman Steve Stenger dissented from his Democrat colleagues on the St. Louis County Council to stand firm for his constituents against a new tax for Metro. The tax has come under sharp criticism for being steep, poorly
timed economically, and with no real plan as to exactly what will be funded.
Taxpayers have twice rejected the same tax. We are still
paying for the last metro spending binge that was promised to qualify our
region for federal matching dollars that never came. We will be paying
that bill for another 40 years. Thus, another tax proposal during these
tough economic times just makes proponents seem out of touch with the
pulse of the voters.
Still, it is easier in politics to “go along.” Councilman Stenger had every form of cover to tell his constituents that the measure to put this tax on the April ballot was going to pass anyway. Even if he didn’t like it, he could have voted yes to keep peace with his party, and his County Executive. He did not take the easy way out. He stood firm for a vote he believed is right for his constituents, putting people above politics, and thinking outside the box. That is
what our Political A List is all about, and we are proud to name him our Political A Lister this week for his courage on this matter!
