OBAMA’S KEYSTONE XL CRONY CAPITALISM

Exclusive: Gina Loudon accuses president of creating a monopoly ‘to benefit his cronies’

Blocking construction of the Keystone XL pipeline is the most egregious crony capitalism move of the millennium.

It has nothing to do with protecting the environment.

Yes, it was a slap to the unions and all of those who would have profited from the tens of thousands of construction, trucking and manufacturing jobs. And, yes, it will cost Americans at the pump. And, yes, global warming (now “climate change”) is a lie of the statist left that has been soundly disproven by science, before science fell sycophant to the politically correct crew and started lying about findings to continue grants. But that is not all.

There is a much, much more sinister plot in this newest Obama lie that no one is talking about.

First, there are two ways to move oil or natural gas: trains and pipelines.

One-hundred years ago, when John D. Rockefeller was trying to get his oil to refineries, the robber barons who ran the rail lines had monopoly control, and that drove up the price of petroleum for consumers. It was Rockefeller who came up with the revolutionary idea of using pipelines. They assured a steady distribution of this critical commodity and created competition for the rail lines.

This week when Obama announced with a straight face all the fake reasons for opposing the pipeline, the inconvenient truth is that he was protecting the railroad robber barons. Namely, his friend and contributor, Warren Buffett.

When Obama claimed opposition to the pipeline was due to environmental concerns relating to fossil fuels, the implication was that if we didn’t allow the Canadians to run the pipelines, the oil would stay in the ground. It won’t. The oil is not going to sit there. So where will it go?

It could go to China, whose demand for the oil is high. But more likely, it will be transported across the U.S. on Warren Buffet’s trains.

Remember, the State Department released an environmental impact statement that indicated the pipeline would have little negative effect in the environment. After that, EPA administrator Gina McCarthy gave the go-ahead on the project as well. So how can Obama stand before the American people and claim environmental nobility? Without the pipeline, there is a much larger threat to the environment in train transport than pipeline transport.
